Posted Nov 20. The Irrigation controller replacement work will finish Thanksgiving Week on Monday 11/23 and Tuesday or Wednesday 24/25. Some pathways in the Quad, the path in between Creative Arts and Fine Arts and the path next to HHS along 19th Avenue will be closed off for concrete and asphalt work. Thank you for your patience.
Alternate Access:
In general paths will be open, however we should expect areas to be taped off while concrete and/or asphalt is being poured. Areas in particular that will require an alternative route is between creative arts and fine arts, and HSS and Admin from 19th Ave. If entering campus from 19th and Holloway, please use Holloway sidewalk and enter at the Library north. When entering campus from Centennial Drive please use the path between Burke Hall and Creative Arts or Holloway sidewalk, entering at the Library south. Plywood may be used to cover the newly poured concrete and asphalt areas to protect drying and curing but allow walkway access.

Tree Maintenance: Paths affected

The week of Nov. 10 through 15: Campus paths in portions between Admin and HSS as well as within the HSS Courtyard and the courtyard in front of the Gymnasium may be periodically cordoned off while trees are pruned. Crews will also be removing a tree located in the area of University Park North, Building Nine. Please be aware when traveling along these paths this week.
Alternate Access:
Work will generally be done early in the morning. Pathways should not be completely blocked. However please recognize that paths may be temporary blocked with trucks hauling debris. Please use alternate routes to the Gym, and HSS, and around UPN Building 9.

Nov 13 & 14 2015. Please be aware the night of November 13, and on Saturday Nov. 14 the southern accessible entrance to the Science Building will be used to transport equipment in and out of the building. Due to the size and shapes of the equipment, along with destinations of delivery this particular entrance must be used.

Patience while workers are engaged in the unloading and loading of equipment in and out of the building will help the University meet the aim of completing the renovation project by the end of the year.

SCI Building: Path Closure, Nov 21

Correction: Nov. 21, 2015. Capital Planning & Construction is advising, that in connection with the SCI Lab remodeling project, Science Building (SCI) will be closed, on Saturday November 21, 2015 from 7am to 5pm. Please be aware, at 7am construction equipment will begin arriving on campus via South State Drive. Trucks will travel along the road/bike way behind the Gym toward Thornton Hall, and the northeastern paths of the Quad. Expect periodic traffic delays along this roadway and the associated parking areas and paths surrounding the Science building, Thornton & Henisill Hall throughout the day. Saturday morning work crews will begin closing select pathways around the SCI and the northeastern section of the Quad at 7am. For reasons of public safety, and to assist with the efficient operations of the work that needs to be done, please respect the campuses need to keep taped-off pathways and surrounding areas closed to public travel. Do not cross into taped-off areas.

Please detour from using paths leading through the north east section of the Quad, where SCI, the Gym and Thornton Hall intersect. The ramp adjacent to the Business building's exterior elevator, facing the Quad will be closed, please use the HSS courtyard to access or exit from this elevator. HSS courtyard is accessible via the path leading from 19th Ave and Holloway between HSS and the Administration Building. Pathway access to Thornton and Hensill Hall from 19th Ave will be open, however we should expect construction crews and equipment to be actively utilizing portions the paths and service roads throughout the day.

Path Closure: Creative Arts and HSS

November 11 - 13: Two paths on campus will be temporarily closed. 1. The path leading from Humanities and Tapia drive between Creative Arts and Fine Arts will be closed throughout the day of November 11th Veterans day. 2. The northeastern entrance/exit to HSS facing 19th Ave will be closed from November 11 through Friday the 13th. Path closure is part of CPCD's the campus irrigation system upgrade and improvement project.
Alternate Access:
To enter the Quad, and campus at large from Tapia Drive, Centennial Drive, and the Humanities Building, please use the sidewalk along Holloway and/or the path between Burke Hall and Creative Arts. To enter and exit HSS on Thursday and Friday, please use available HSS alternative entrance/exits while the work is being done. The Campus will be closed Wednesday in observance of Veterans Day.

Campus Tree Maintenance: Pathways

Oct 13, 2015. The campus will be engaged in various tree maintenance tasks over the next few months. Tree removal and the accompanying grounds work may require blocking paths on campus. On Oct. 13 tree removal crews will be working within the HSS Building courtyard, facing the office stop and 19th Ave. Be aware workers will be in the area. Crews work will begin in early morning hours to lessen the impact on pedestrian traffic, and noise within the surrounding classrooms.

Sept. 4 Message from the Sr. Director of SFSU Facilities: Dear Campus Community I am pleased to announce that all but one elevator on both the academic campus, and within University Property Management areas are functional. The out of service elevator is the exterior terrace elevator at the Cesar Chavez Student Center. An emergency PO has been input today for a replacement of its 'door sill', which has warped due to weather exposure induced oxidation. This repair is expected to take several weeks. The affected area is the exterior access to the seating atop the pyramid; access to occupied areas of the Cesar Chavez Student Center are unaffected. As follow up to the elevator outages experienced this week, we have engaged our elevator consultant to conduct an investigation, and make recommendations to increase our resilience in this area. Thank you all for your patience during this time. Please know that we take elevator function very seriously, and always take steps to ensure the safety of our elevators before returning them to service. Please contact the Facilities Customer Service Center at extension 81568 if you observe any issues with elevators, or other facilities related issues.

Sept. 17. Please be aware, PG&E will be excavating equipment in the street that runs between Mary Ward and the Villages. Work is likely to impact delivery trucks that unload at that location, however it should not interfere with the traffic to and from the Village Garage. Excavation work is expected to begin around 7am on Thursday, 9/17/15 and complete before 5pm the same day. The crosswalk along Font may be affected.

If PG&E's work team and equipment is blocking the crosswalk in this area please use the path between the Towers and the Village to enter campus.
