The elevator of the C wing(old building that exits out to Cafe Rosso)will be closed at 5pm Friday afternoon and will be closed over the weekend 3/25-27/2011. Please use the main elevator at the front of the building (new entrance/exit out to the Gym and C.Chavez Center). Access to the basement is limited to the stairwell and ramp that faces Ethnic/Phyc Studies building. Be advised this ramp is not recommended for wheelchair access.

PG&E Work Along 19th Avenue

PG&E is beginning underground street work along southbound 19th Avenue from the north end of F. Hale Stephenson Field to Holloway Avenue and west along Holloway Avenue for approximately 100 feet. PG&E will erect pedestrian detours at the sidewalk along 19th Avenue prior to starting installation of a total of three underground sidewalk vaults; two along 19th Avenue and one on Holloway Avenue. These activities are all necessary in support of the PG&E Fuel Cell project. Installation of the Holloway Avenue vault will take place over spring break.
Alternate Access:
Use pedestrian detours provided. Over spring break, use main campus pathway instead of Holloway Avenue sidewalk.

Pathways: Utilities Extension Project

Exterior paths at East side of Humanities Building, South West-side of Centennial Village Building C., and Cafe Rosso will be impacted by construction barriers and construction equipment. The sidewalk curb-cut that opens onto the pedestrian and campus roadway directly across from Cafe Rosso leading to Humanities and Centennial Village Building C. will be closed. Construction barriers will extend down the walkway between Humanities and Centennial Village Building C. Direct access to and from the Humanities building can be found at north or west entrance locations. On-campus shuttle service will be unable to pick-up or drop-off riders at the east entrance of the Humanities Building. Barriers, construction activity and, heavy equipment will be present for three weeks, please proceed with caution.

Campus Quad Pathway Alert

The main east west pathway from 19th Avenue to the Cesar Chavez Student Union on the south side of the campus Quad will be blocked on January 19th and 20th directly in front of the Library project. This is necessary to accommodate an extremely tall crane lifting heavy equipment to the roof of the existing Library.
Alternate Access:
Either proceed along Holloway Avenue from 19th Avenue until the west side of the Library project is reached and then turn north into the campus at the east side of Creative Arts. Or, take the pathway on the west side of Business north to the north side of the campus Quad and proceed westerly.

Pothole Work Along 19th Avenue East of Greenhouse No. 2

A construction company is planned to be on campus east of Greenhouse No. 2. Their work is to locate existing underground utilities to the east of the greenhouse close to the sidewalk bordering the campus along 19th Avenue. This work is necessary in support of the Fuel Cell project being installed on campus. If there is any interruption to passage along 19th Avenue, it will be momentary while tools and equipment are being conveyed to and from the area of work.

Font Blvd: Vehicular and pedestrian traffic along Font Blvd. (between the intersection of Tapia Drive/Arballo Drive and the driveway to the Village parking garage) will be impacted during the week of January 10, 2011 for installation of the sewer line. Notice of detours and warnings will be posted to advise the public. Westbound vehicular traffic on Font Blvd. will be diverted to the south side of the median where both westbound and eastbound traffic will be routed. All parking spaces on both the north and side sides of Font Blvd. (between the intersection of Tapia Drive/Arballo Drive and the driveway to the Village parking garage) will be posted and enforced as "No Parking." Tapia Drive: Vehicular and pedestrian traffic along Tapia Drive (south of the Humanities Building) will be impacted during the week of January 10, 2011 for removal and construction of the new sidewalk. Notice of detours and warnings will be posted to advise the public. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the south side of Tapia Drive. The driveway leading into the parking lot on the west side of the Humanities Building will be closed for at least two days beginning on January 11, 2011 to permit construction of the new sidewalk across and adjacent to the driveway. Parking and deliveries in the lot will not be permitted during this period. All parking spaces on the north side of Tapia Drive in front of the Humanities Building will be posted and enforced as "No Parking." Humanities Building (north side): The contractor will begin construction of temporary walkways for building access in preparation of the heating hot water trench that will begin later in the month. Notice of detours and warnings will be posted to advise the public. Pedestrians should avoid the area and use the pathway on the south side of the Student Services Building.

Pedestrians are advised to proceed along the south side of Tapia Drive when walking in these areas until the work is complete and the sidewalks are made available to the public. The driveway leading into the parking lot on the west side of the Humanities Building will be closed through December 31, 2010 to permit excavation and utilities installation across and adjacent to the driveway. Parking and deliveries in the lot will not be permitted during this period. Also on Monday, December 27, 2010, the contractor will begin heating hot water and domestic hot water tie-ins in front of Cafe Rosso along Centennial Walk. On Monday, November 22, 2010, the contractor will begin excavating the gas trench on Font Blvd, located east of the electrical trench along Font Blvd immediately west of the round-about between Mary Ward Hall and the Village. Vehicular and pedestrian traffic along the western portion of Font Blvd. will be impacted during this week. Notice of detours and warnings will be posted to advise the public. Also on Monday, November 22, 2010, the contractor will be excavating in the area in front of Cafe Rosso. The work area will be barricaded-off from the public, but noise and dust from the work site may be present. After this week, non-slip trench plates will cover the excavation until Winter break when work will resume.
