Facilities has scheduled a Central Plant shutdown for critical maintenance, starting July 22 through July 26, 2013 (next week). Heat and domestic hot water will not be distributed to most academic buildings during the shutdown; However, Housing residence halls, Student Services, Business, Children's Campus, and the Child Care Center buildings will not be affected.

Please be aware, power door availability to campus buildings through the weeks of July 1 to July 28 will observe the following schedules. Burk Hall, Business, Ethnic & Phyc Studies, Gym, Hensill Hall, HSS, Science, Thornton Hall; Monday through Friday, 7 am - 10 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday's. Student Services Building (SSB), Monday-Friday 8 am - 7 pm. SSB exception. Entrance to Disability Programs Office, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and, Friday, 8:30 am - 12 noon; reopen 1 pm - 4:30 pm. Wednesday's, 8:30 am- 12 noon; reopen 1 pm - 2:45 pm. Library, Monday through Thursday, 7 am - 10 pm. Friday's, 7 am -5 pm. Creative Arts, Fine Arts, Monday through Saturday, 7 am -10 pm. Throughout the month of June the pathways connecting the C. Chavez Center to the Quad are undergoing an upgrade from partially accessible to fully assessable. Paths entering from the north east entrance of the Library, center most intersections of the quad and, the north east facing the Gym are closed.
Alternate Access:
Paths to the C. Chavez Center are open from the south west entrance facing the lower level of the Library and Creative Arts, and from the North east through the bookstore. Alternant entrance to C. Chavez is also available from the approach to Fine Arts or Burke Hall.

Sidewalk Closure, State Drive, Parking lot 6 and 19

On June 14 the sidewalk that connects State Drive to the exterior steps and elevator located closest to the bridge and Five Corners. Please be aware of heavy equipment. Trucks will be removing the temporary buildings currently being staged in Lots 6 and 19. Two units will depart in the morning then the trucks will return to remove the remaining two units in the early afternoon.
Alternate Access:
For individuals able to traverse stairs, an alternative route may be found along side the Towers dormitory. Access to the southwest end of campus without stairs may be found along Tapia Drive, and/or from Font before Mary Ward Hall.

Pathways at southwest end of Quad: Gym entrance

Throughout the summer months several areas of the campus will be undergoing improvements. On June 11, the Temp. buildings in front of the Gym will be moved - Expect heavy equipment and traffic in this area of campus. The pathways along the north and west sides of the Quad (north and east sides of C. Chavez Student Center) will be upgraded from partially to fully accessible, and will be closed for construction from June 5 to July 8. The southwestern entrance to the Gymnasium will be open. Alerts will be posted as work progresses.
Alternate Access:
Pedestrian traffic from 19th avenue along the Science building at the corner of Business, traveling south toward the Gymnasium is advised to take the path along the southern side of Business toward Administration and the Library. From this intersection, travel south to Centennial Walk/Drive behind Fine Arts toward the back end of Burke Hall. Turn right toward Student Health pass Ethnic Studies and Psychology to enter the Gymnasium's southern entrance facing C. Chavez Student Center.

Parking Lot 6 and roadway behind the Gym

Pedestrians should expect traffic delays and roadway congestion on the inner campus, between the GYM and Thornton Hall and in Lot 6, behind the GYM, on Tuesday (6/11) and Wednesday (6/12). Delays are due to removal of temporary buildings T-A and T-G that sit in front of the Gym. Temp buildings will be taken-out via Lot 6 at the back of the Gymnasium, transported down the hill through Lot 19 and onto State Drive, there onto Lake Merced Boulevard. Temp.-A and Temp.-G are scheduled to be staged in Lots 6 and 19 overnight on the evening of June 11th and picked-up and transported off campus during the morning of June 12th.

SSB Elevator Service: Limited operations

Elevators in SSB is somewhat limited. One elevator is not operational, the second elevator is apt to over heat due to excess load. Overheating can cause the lift to abruptly stop requiring it to cool down. Updates will be posted.

The elevator being checked services basement to ground floor access during the libraries 24 hour open period. Roadway blocked: Westside Thornton Hall

Beginning Monday March 25 the campus roadway west of Thornton Hall will be closed to pedestrian and campus cart travel. Capital Planing and Design and Construction (CPDC) will be inspecting Thornton Hall facade throughout the week. CPDC will have personnel at this location to assist in maintaining safety. Also, CPDC will have signage up alerting the campus community to use alternate routes. Employees will be present to move the equipment if Fire or Medics need to access. Road closure will extend through the week of 03/25/-03/29.

The roadway is not marked as an Accessible Path, however shuttle carts should be rerouted into the quad for cross campus travel during Spring Break.

Pedestrian Pathway South of Village Closed

The pathway located immediately south of the Village at Centennial Square will be closed to pedestrians starting tomorrow morning Tuesday November 27, 2012 and remain closed until early spring 2013. Vehicular access to the Village parking level will remain open. This closure is necessary for construction of new pathways which will, when completed replace in-part, the existing pathway along this edge of the new multi-purpose playfield.

Alternate accessible pedestrian pathways are located either through the Village at Centennial Square (accessed via elevator at west end) or along the pedestrian pathway immediately south of the Towers at Centennial Square.

The South East entrance from the Garden of Remembrance into Fine Arts, Ceramics and Sculpture studios is open - however; technicians will be present as ground work continues along he path. Please expect sections of the immediate path to the doorway from the base of the ramp to Cesar Chavez Student Center to have irregular surfaces as work continues. Temporary barricades may be in place while work progresses.

The path is clear, however; if the path is temporally roped off at points throughout the work day, alternative access to the Ceramics and Sculpture area of Fine Arts is available via internal stairway and elevators within that area of the building.
